Esta aplicação permite organizar as "centenas" de pdf's que temos no nosso computador, criando uma base de dados com a informação de cada artigo, livro ou trabalho. Não obstante, esta maravilhosa ferramenta ainda tem um plugin para o Office, OpenOffice ou NeoOffice, através do qual é permitido inserir automaticamente a referência bibliográfica e respectiva bibliografia no final do trabalho.

O Homem Moderno fez sexo com Neandertais

Um professor do Max Planck Institute de Leipzig está a sequenciar o ADN de fósseis de homens de Neandertal, com o objectivo de provar que estes chegaram a procriar com o Homem moderno.

Segundo uma reportagem publicada no 'Sunday Times', fósseis descobertos recentemente apresentam características do Homem moderno e do Homem de Neandertal, o que sugere ter havido procriação entre ambos. A grande questão que ocupa agora o investigador Svante Paabo é saber se das relações sexuais resultaram descendentes e de que forma esse cruzamento terá influenciado a espécie humana.

Os homens do Neandertal viviam na Europa, onde o Homem Moderno chegou - vindo de África - há cerca de 40 mil anos, coexistindo ambos no mesmo continente por cerca de dez ou doze mil anos.

Chris Stringer, do Museu de História Natural de Londres, apresenta outra interpretação deste possível cruzamento entre os homens de diferentes estádios da evolução da espécie: citado pela BBC, refere que "é possível que os neandertais e o Homem Moderno fossem geneticamente incompatíveis, até poderiam ter procriado, mas os seus filhos seriam menos férteis", resume.

Segundo o investigador, esse é o tipo de relação que ocorre também na natureza entre espécies diferentes, como os leões, tigres, zebras ou cavalos.

Internet Archaeology

Internet Archaeology is the first fully refereed e-journal for archaeology and publishes articles of a high academic standing which utilise the potential of electronic publication. Internet Archaeology is hosted by the Department of Archaeology at the University of York and published by the Council for British Archaeology.

Internet Archaeology has been publishing on the web since 1996 and provides new avenues to present and engage with archaeological research. International in scope, all journal content is subject to rigorous peer-review.
